The opportunity

The HR & Communication Strategy & Transformation team is recruiting a Senior Strategy Specialist to assist in driving the HR & Communications transformation at Manulife. The Specialist is responsible for the research, analysis in support of the delivery of strategic projects. They analyze key business priorities and bring insights to generate actions that build value for the company.

Responsibilities

  • Thinks analytically to break down moderately complex issues into smaller, manageable parts with support, is able to discern the most critical pieces of larger analysis

  • Communicates clearly and thoughtfully to get ideas heard and uses good judgement to achieve appropriate impact with peers and Managers.

  • Clearly communicate results of work of moderate complexity to business partners and clearly articulate solutions to senior team members.

  • Collects and analyzes high volumes of diverse information; incorporates external factors into research and analysis.

  • Focused on market indicators as part of a larger strategy

  • Shares data for further interpretation with peers.

  • Basic understanding of the business, value chain, financial acumen, and customer lifecycle for the strategy they are supporting

  • Has a fundamental understanding of the business as a whole Curious and asks the right kinds of questions of peers and customers to gain knowledge

  • Understands company culture, collaboration and information sharing within the company

  • Solid understanding of a global view of strategy, engaging a wide audience in research, understand a strategic view, synthesizing large volumes of data to bring together an informed recommendation Combines an openness and awareness of diversity across cultures and markets with a propensity and ability to see and leverage common patterns across countries and markets Solid understanding on how technology supports the organization, understands and leverages social media Identify and use different methods to personally react to and manage change

  • Support the policies and standards that outline delivery execution

How will you create impact?

The Specialist, reporting to the Director/AVP, Strategy & Transformation supports the strategic decisions via the thoughtful analysis and presentation of current state, firm strengths/challenges, industry/market trends and competitive research.

This person partners with staff across the function, geographies and project teams to ensure strategic objectives achieve intended outcomes, through thoughtful analysis and clear presentation of results & recommendations.

They support the team in achieving the overall mandate for the HRC Strategy & Transformation area, partnering with leaders to mobilize resources to resolve special strategy projects and track & report implementation progress. The Specialist delivers comprehensive, forward-looking advisory services to senior management in a timely manner, while maintaining an effective monitoring framework and process that will help ensure a successful execution on our strategy to achieve our objectives.

The Specialist collaborates to communicate our strategic priorities, both to internal and external stakeholders, in an impactful way, providing context, focus and inspiration.

What we are looking for

  • Advanced degree in business or equivalent

  • Prior experience in top tier management consulting, investment banking or similar strategy roles preferred

  • 3-4 years of experience in a strategy function (or equivalent) within large multi-national corporation

  • Good business acumen and understanding of the strategy function

  • Excellent analytical capabilities, very comfortable with quantitative & financial analysis.

  • Proven ability to influence and get recommendations approved

  • Regarded as a realistic and practical individual, and is respected for ability to deliver

  • Must be a phenomenal communicator

  • Ability to work effectively in diverse environments and cultures

Salary & Benefits

The annual base salary for this role is listed below.

Primary Location

Toronto, Ontario

Salary range is expected to be between

$70,350.00 CAD - $117,250.00 CAD

The actual salary will vary depending on local market conditions, geography and relevant job-related factors such as knowledge, skills, qualifications, experience, and education/training.
