Job Description:

Reporting to the Finance Director in MBPS with matrix reporting to Asia Finance Transformation (AFT) and Global Finance Shared Services (GFSS), the role will support the Finance Controller of each Business Unit across the Asia Segment. Responsibilities include the following:

Responsibilities:

Act as process owner of the Suspense Account Management process for Asia region. Partner with Operations to implement Quality Control measures, governance of reporting standards such as clearing standards, write-off management, and any future set of policies applicable to suspense account management. Lead regular review of match rules to increase auto-matching rate through Manulife’s suspense account management tool (Cadency). Manage the onboarding of new business units and accounts to be managed by the Suspense Account team. Manage critical escalated issues for quick resolution and a plan of action to eliminate future issue. In collaboration with transformation teams (Finance Process & Modernization and AFT), initiate possible continues improvements to existing process and reporting. Conduct regular business reviews with Finance BU Controllers and leadership team on key business highlights, team performance, and any risks and issues requiring attention. Prepare and lead the regular review sessions with Asia Regional Controller, GFSS and AFT on suspense account management. Develop and implement effective change management actions including training when there are new BU, new account to be onboard to the suspense management team or new process to be implemented. Effectively and efficiently manage day-to-day operations of the team including team capacity and, utilization and career development. Special Projects

Special projects will arise from time to time require strong financial knowledge, analytical and organizational skills with an innovative mindset. The role will participate in Asia regional priorities and strategic projects as assigned or other Adhoc activities as required by senior management pertaining to the introduction of new services, products, and processes.

Qualifications

  • University Business Degree and/or recognized accounting designation (Chartered Accountant or CPA);

  • 8+ years of progressive experience in Accounting Operations background (month-end closing, journal entry posting, accounting reconciliation)

  • Experience working with senior management teams (Strong stakeholder management requiring persuasion / influencing skills); relationship building and negotiation skills.

  • Experience in Cadency, SAP, Oracle, Infor Lawson, General Accounting Systems or any Finance reconciliation system is an advantage.

  • Intermediate to Advanced knowledge of Excel (i.e. mastery of excel formulas and pivot tables is a must). Proficient in MS Office suite including Outlook, Word, Power Point, and Project.

  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and strong stakeholder management capabilities

  • Strong technical accounting skills with a solid understanding of the business environment

  • Advanced Excel skills and experience with database applications

  • Self-starter, detail-oriented, willingness to take ownership and accountability.

  • Strong oral/written communication skills required to interact with senior officers and representatives from other Divisions and functional departments.

  • Highly organized with an ability to work in a fast-paced, multi stakeholder environment and manage multiple priorities.
